Catamarca governor Raúl Jalil hosted Diego Zuckerberg and Silvio Duport of VulEnergy at Casa de Catamarca in Buenos Aires, joined by Natalia Dusso, vice president of the provincial energy company CAMYEN. According to the official statement, the project is in its final stage of exploration, aimed at establishing pre-feasibility for a productive model covering the supply, generation and distribution of geothermal energy in Antofagasta de la Sierra.
Running alongside it is an assessment of lithium carbonate extraction via direct lithium extraction (DLE), with attention on the water balance of the geothermal aquifers. The statement highlights the development’s environmental profile and describes it as the first cogeneration project in South America, backed by a team combining experience in mining, geology, energy and finance.
